This Is Bruce
He’s our calm systems success-maker, laidback financial wizard and a born-and-raised Calgary cowboy at heart.
Our founders are dusk and dawn. But one thing they do have in common?
Big things have happened for them at meditation retreats.
Nine years ago, Jill and Bruce met at a meditation retreat.
It wasn’t love at first sight. There was no clashing chemistry. And they’ll both freely admit they didn’t think they were each other’s types.
Bonding over divine feminine healing, the music of Biebs, and the power of intention, they became instant besties instead; helping each other heal from broken hearts and past wounds as they explored their spiritual journeys both together and apart.
18 months later (at another meditation retreat), Jill and Bruce fell in love.
Intrigued, Jill made a note and stashed it away for another day. Which happened to be six months later, while she and Bruce were swapping memories from the meditation retreat.
“Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. I had an idea.” She said, sharing the spark of inspiration that had visited her during the retreat.
This time, Bruce’s mouth dropped … because he’d had the very same message from spirit at the exact same meditation retreat.
Jill and Bruce looked at each other and smiled.
And, so, the vision for INTENDIES was born: To nurture a meditative moment where humans could choose to use their INTENDIES organic cotton underwear to purposefully create a day of peace.
It’s a different approach to spirituality. But that’s why we love it so much.
It went a little something like this:
Jill (looking at Bruce): “Why am I trying to set this handsome man up with my friend … when I should be setting him up with me?!”
Bruce (looking at Jill): “How have I not seen this beautiful woman right in front of me … and why am I not with her?!”
So, naturally, Bruce – who knew how much Jill loved her romcoms – embraced his inner hero to profess, confess and express his love … in front of Jill and the entire meditation retreat group.
As Jill’s mouth dropped open, the room erupted in tears and applause.
They were married two years later.
In [2016] the idea for INTENDIES was birthed at – you got it – a meditation retreat.
“Cotton.” Something in Jill’s brain pinged, mid-meditation “You’ll heal others and change the world with cotton.”
